Description:
Project rear extension on an early 19th century Victorian style home.
On a block with a south facing yard it was clear to Architect Peter Burford what design was needed to achieve light filled living spaces and entertaining patios .
With a structural steel frame design to allow for glazed large openings, a curved lantern roof ceiling with louvers, highlight windows above the dining area to also allow natural lighting and airflow and solid Blackbutt beams attached to a structural steel frame over the terrace for shade and also to give that floating frame appearance.
The new main bedroom has a light filled new ensuite and an eastern terrace with its own sunken outdoor spa looking out to the new landscaped garden.
The new living areas consist of a new galley type kitchen with a breakfast bar, large dining area, and a great new terrace that raps right around for entertaining.
The whole rear extension was designed on a 20 degree angle to make the most of aspect and privacy.
Materials include:
Flooring: Solid Redgum
Deck: Jarrah
Clear anodized commercial glazing
Canadian oak kitchen upstand
Solid Blackbutt beams and battens over patios
